Great news: Lucene 3.0 is out!!
The new version is mostly a cleanup release without any new features. All deprecations targeted to be removed in version 3.0 were removed.

Absolutely. Especially useful for JCR I think will be the possibility of near real-time search. http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-1516
